Hundreds turn out in NoHo for liquidation of costumes used in decades of TV, film

**Family-Run Costume Shop Serving Hollywood for Decades Closes Its Doors**

*NORTH HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC)* — A beloved family-run costume shop that has served the movie industry for nearly 50 years is closing its doors. This weekend, Costume Rentals Corporation (CRC) held a massive liquidation sale, marking their first-ever sale open to the public — just in time for Halloween.

The event drew huge crowds, with hundreds lining up around the building, eager to own a piece of Hollywood history. Racks upon racks of unique vintage items were available, many of which have been worn on screen in some of your favorite movies and television shows.

CRC proudly provided costumes for blockbuster films such as *Saving Private Ryan*, *Forrest Gump*, *Fast and Furious*, *Barbie*, *Joker*, and countless others. Their extensive collection covers every genre and era imaginable, featuring vintage pieces dating back to the 1920s through the 1950s—items that many boutiques simply can’t source.

“It was an overwhelming turnout. We were very proud of that,” said Sarah Allegro of CRC. “People knew that we have pieces from the 20s, 30s, 40s, and 50s. A lot of those are vintage pieces that a lot of boutiques can’t get their hands on. We even had casting directors sending their teams out for active shows.”

The decision to close comes amid ongoing challenges and changes in Hollywood in recent years, including the pandemic, studio hiatuses, and industry strikes. These factors contributed to a tough period for the multi-generational family business.

Although the weekend sale has concluded, CRC shared plans to donate some costume items to museums and non-profits. While they are not yet ready to publicly announce their next venture, interested individuals are encouraged to follow CRC on social media for updates on what’s coming next.

Stay tuned for more updates on this iconic costume shop’s future.
