Is the Glaxion Vandal Worth It in Warframe?

Getting weapons in Warframe to the point where they can deal the required damage to matter in the game’s tougher content can take a lot of time and investment. From Catalysts to Forma and Adapters, you may find yourself investing significant resources—and nobody wants to do that with the wrong weapon. So, is the Glaxion Vandal worth your effort?

Glaxion Vandal vs. Standard Glaxion and Tenet Glaxion

The Glaxion Vandal is an upgrade over the standard Glaxion in several key areas. It boasts higher base damage, increased critical chance, better status chance, larger magazine size, faster reload speed, and greater ammo reserves. This makes it a clear winner when compared to the regular Glaxion. If you are a fan of the Glaxion, the Vandal is certainly a worthwhile upgrade in almost every way.

However, when compared to the Tenet Glaxion, the Vandal falls short. The Tenet Glaxion is widely considered the best version of this weapon class. If you can hold out and obtain the Tenet Glaxion from a Sister of Parvos, it will likely be the smarter investment for long-term performance.

Who Should Consider the Glaxion Vandal?

If you are new to Warframe and looking for a weapon that can perform well into the early Steel Path content, the Glaxion Vandal can serve you well—with enough investment. It can be a solid choice as you ramp up your arsenal, especially if you aren’t ready to wait for a Tenet Glaxion.

One additional perk is that the Glaxion Vandal works with the Photon Overcharge mod, which is available from Nora’s Nightwave shop for Cred Offerings when it is in the prize rotation. This mod increases critical damage and grants a 2% chance to drop an energy orb on kills or assists affected by Cold status, adding a helpful energy sustain element.

Recommended Build and Playstyle

Above, you will find my preferred Tenet Glaxion build, but it also works well on the Vandal if you want to try it out. This build is designed to be paired with Frost, using his fourth ability to strip enemy armor, then dealing heavy damage with the Glaxion’s beams and Gas status procs.

If you don’t have another source of armor stripping, consider swapping Thermite Rounds for High Voltage or another Electric mod. This change shifts the weapon’s status damage from Gas to Corrosive, which is more effective against armored enemies.

For additional damage output, you might also want to subsume Nourish on your Warframe, providing easy Viral damage to further increase your weapon’s effectiveness.

Conclusion

The Glaxion Vandal is a strong upgrade over the standard Glaxion and can carry new players into early Steel Path content with the right mods and investment. However, for those aiming at the highest performance, the Tenet Glaxion is the superior choice and worth waiting for.

If you enjoy the Glaxion’s playstyle, the Vandal is definitely a worthwhile weapon to pursue, especially while working toward obtaining the Tenet variant.
