Glamours have long provided Final Fantasy 14 players with a fun and creative way to express themselves. By allowing players to overlay their desired armor appearance onto their actual gear, glamours enable stylish customization without sacrificing stats. However, a significant restriction within this system is set to be removed in the upcoming December update.
Square Enix revealed this exciting change in a recent Letter from the Producer video. With Patch 7.4, launching on all platforms in mid-December, glamours will no longer be limited by level or job/class. Previously, players couldn’t equip glamours from one job—for example, a Lancer’s chest plate—onto another job’s gear, like a Dark Knight’s armor. Starting with Patch 7.4, these restrictions will be lifted, granting players much greater freedom to mix and match their favorite looks.
The only exception remains weapons. Due to mechanical considerations and visual consistency, weapon glamours will still be restricted to appropriate options to avoid breaking the game’s look and feel.
This update is a fantastic development for fashion-forward Final Fantasy 14 players, offering unprecedented customization possibilities. It also follows on the heels of a recent collaboration event that brought Monster Hunter: World items, characters, cosmetics, and even the mighty Arkveld dragon into the game.
Overall, Patch 7.4 promises to be a highly anticipated update for those who love to show off their unique style in Eorzea.
