It’s October 31, baby. Halloween, All Hallow’s Eve, has arrived, and it’s proper spooking time! There are so many great games out there that are perfect for the occasion. Whether you’re into new releases or classic scares, there’s something for everyone. This week for Shack Chat, we’re talking about what we’re playing for the holiday!
**Question:** What game are you playing for Halloween 2025?

### Team Fortress 2
**Ozzie Mejia, Senior Thriller**
I am always ready to answer the call at this time of year. *Team Fortress 2* demands that everyone come together for the Halloween holiday and remember the good old days when Scream Fortress ruled. Whether it’s avoiding the Horseless Headless Horsemann, hiding from the gaze of Monoculus, or taking part in Merasmus’ mischief, *Team Fortress 2*’s Halloween event still holds up—thanks largely to the community that has kept it going.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I must go do the Thriller dance with a packed server.

### Silent Hill f
**TJ Denzer, High-School Trauma Through the Weekend**
I’ve heard great things about *Silent Hill f*. Fans seem to like it, non-fans seem to like it, Donovan Erskine liked it, and one of Japan’s most interesting horror game writers worked on it. The main thing that kept me from playing *Silent Hill f* when it came out was that I wasn’t reviewing it and wanted to save the experience for Halloween.
It’s true—I planned this the moment I knew I wasn’t under embargo to finish the game. I’ve been carefully navigating spoilers, though it’s hard when covering news and having social media algorithms that are extremely *Silent Hill* friendly. Nonetheless, I’ve made it here with only an inkling of what happens. I’m excited to dig in and see the whole thing.

### Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted
**Asif Khan, Zombie Slayer**
I’m back on the *Plants vs. Zombies* wagon this Halloween thanks to the new release on my Nintendo Switch 2 entertainment system. Brains!

### Marvel Snap
**Bill Lavoy, Shackmaps Overlord**
Around Halloween, you’d expect that I might be playing something scary. However, I wouldn’t be playing something scary no matter what because I just don’t like scary games—I’m a big baby like that.
This year is especially interesting for me, though, as I only have the use of one arm. That pretty much limits what I can play to mouse-only games. So, in the most boring answer in Shack Chat history, I’m probably going to be playing *Marvel Snap*, *Civilization 7*, and maybe even some *This War of Mine*.

### Phasmophobia
**Sam Chandler, Channeling the Warrens**
I’ve never played *Phasmophobia*, but that will change Friday night. My friends and I are all scooping it up while it’s on sale on Steam. We’ll be doing our best to exorcise ghosts, demons, and other spooky apparitions while avoiding soiling our pants.

### Resident Evil 2
**Donovan Erskine, Showing It to a Friend**
I myself won’t be playing *Resident Evil 2*, but I have a friend who I’ll be watching play it with. She’s never played a Resident Evil game but wants to experience something spooky for Halloween. I look forward to watching her freak out while I laugh and eat candy.

### Pokémon Legends: Arceus and Donkey Kong Bananza
**Steve Tyminski, Boo! Did I Scare You?**
What games am I playing for Halloween this year? Well, this week on *The Stevetendo Show*, I played *Crow Country* for the first time. Trying to solve a mystery in a haunted amusement park screams Halloween, right?
I will also be playing more *Pokémon Legends: Arceus* and *Donkey Kong Bananza*. I have spent most of my free time playing *Pokémon Legends: Arceus* and I’m making good progress. There are monsters in that game—albeit Pocket Monsters—but monsters all the same, so it counts.
I also got back into *Donkey Kong Bananza* while playing it on *The Stevetendo Show*. I went back into my personal playthrough and jumped into the DLC for the game, which adds DK Island and the Emerald Rush mode to an already stacked game. Also, DK is a giant monkey, like King Kong, so any giant monkey stuff is okay for the Halloween season.
To recap, I’m playing *Pokémon Legends: Arceus* and *Donkey Kong Bananza* for Halloween this year.
