The Texans have ruled out quarterback C. J. Stroud due to a concussion. Stroud’s head bounced off the ground after Broncos cornerback Kris Abrams-Draine hit him at the end of a slide. He remained on the ground with 13:49 left in the quarter before heading into the training room for a head check.
Officials initially threw a flag on Abrams-Draine’s hit, but upon review, the replay assistant overturned the call and took away the flag. It was ruled that Stroud’s slide was late, and Abrams-Draine did not make contact with Stroud’s head.
Before exiting the game, Stroud completed 6 of 10 passes for 79 yards. This marks the second time he has suffered a concussion, having missed two games with a concussion during his rookie season.
In addition to Stroud, the Texans have also ruled out tackle Tytus Howard with a concussion. Linebacker Christian Harris is sidelined as well, dealing with a shin injury.
Despite these setbacks, the Texans have increased their lead to 15-7 following Ka’imi Fairbairn’s 41-yard field goal.
