‘Political poison’: Wall Street Journal editors issue searing rebuke of the ‘new right’

The Wall Street Journal’s conservative editorial board has issued a searing rebuke of the “political poison” metastasizing on the “new right” following a controversial interview by one of MAGA’s biggest media voices.

Last week, Tucker Carlson interviewed Nick Fuentes on his popular show on X. During the interview, Fuentes made salacious and antisemitic remarks targeting well-known right-wing Jewish commentators such as Josh Hammer, Mark Levin, and Ben Shapiro. Fuentes also expressed admiration for Joseph Stalin, infamous for murdering millions and causing the mass starvation event in Ukraine known as the Holodomor.

After the interview aired, Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts defended Carlson’s decision to host Fuentes. Roberts posted a video on X stating that “cancelling Nick Fuentes is not the answer,” emphasizing that Republican voters expect a focus on defeating Democrats at the ballot box instead.

In response, The Wall Street Journal’s editorial board released a new editorial on Sunday, criticizing Roberts’ defense. They described it as an example of the growing “political poison” on the new right. The editors wrote:

“An old political poison is growing on the new right, led by podcasters and internet opportunists who are preoccupied with the Jews. It is spreading wider and faster than we thought. If conservatives — and Republicans — don’t call out this poison in their own ranks before it corrupts more young minds, the right and America are entering dangerous territory.”

This editorial serves as a stark warning about the consequences of ignoring the rise of extremist views within conservative circles and urges leaders to confront these issues before they cause further damage.
