Currently, services such as JR West’s e5489 and JR Central’s EX Service operate independently, each with different coverage areas and ticketing methods. This separation has led to complaints from users about the difficulty of navigating the systems.
In response, the four JR companies announced at a joint press conference on September 19th that they will integrate their systems to enable smoother use across service boundaries. Starting in October, passengers who hold accounts with both e5489 and EX Service will be able to log in to both platforms using a single ID.
Additionally, the companies plan to introduce a system that allows linked accounts to be used seamlessly across services without the need to re-enter login details. This improvement will make transfers between reservation platforms more convenient for passengers, enhancing the overall user experience.
