REPORT: Dozens of Parents Began Yanking Their Kids Out of NYC Schools Just Minutes After Mamdani’s Mayoral Win

**The Exodus from New York City Begins Following Zohran Mamdani’s Mayoral Win**

The exodus from New York City has already begun. Within minutes of Zohran Mamdani’s mayoral victory, dozens of parents started unenrolling their children from NYC public schools, planning to relocate their families to other locations such as Connecticut. This trend is expected to worsen as Mamdani puts his agenda into action, prompting more people to leave the city, which will only further depress New York’s already fragile tax base.

According to the New York Post, parents began planning to take their kids out of New York City schools almost immediately after Mamdani’s win was announced.

School placement consultant Christopher Rim shared with The Post that since Tuesday’s election results came in, he has been contacted by no less than 23 clients looking to relocate. These families are seeking his assistance to enroll their children in elite private high schools and middle schools outside of the city and even other states.

“Within the first 30 minutes of the AP announcing Mamdani’s victory, I got three messages from families looking to move,” said Rim, founder and CEO of Command Education.

Rim also revealed that some families had reached out months ago, anticipating Mamdani’s win.

“Over the summer, I started hearing families say, ‘I don’t know what we are going to do if this guy wins,’” he said. Believing Mamdani’s victory was inevitable, six of his clients moved to Connecticut — including Greenwich, Darien, and Riverside — ahead of the school year. “They were like, ‘He’s going to win, and there’s no reason [to wait],’” Rim added.

This wave of relocation is just the beginning. As more residents decide to leave the city, some communities, especially in more conservative or “red” areas, are concerned about the impact of this population shift. The coming months are expected to bring significant changes and challenges for New York City.
