The investigation into the Khedkar case has taken a new turn following the arrest of bodyguard Praful Salunkhe.
### Key Revelations from Bodyguard Praful Salunkhe
Salunkhe informed police that Manorama Khedkar instructed him and Dilip Khedkar to leave their Pune residence after a police visit on September 14. According to his statement, Salunkhe and Dilip left together in a Toyota Land Cruiser, while Manorama departed separately in another vehicle.
Adding to the development, Salunkhe revealed that Dilip instructed the driver to abandon the SUV and go underground. Acting on this information, Navi Mumbai police have tracked the vehicle and are preparing to seize it. Simultaneously, authorities are searching for an unidentified individual who deleted CCTV footage from the family’s home—footage that is believed to capture both the Khedkars’ escape and the presence of a truck helper at the residence.
### Arrest Related to Road Rage Incident
Praful Salunkhe was arrested in connection with a road rage incident that escalated into the kidnapping and confinement of a truck helper. He was detained on Friday in Sindhkhed, Dhule district, and remains in police custody until September 24, according to Rahul Dhas, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Rabale Division, Navi Mumbai.
The incident originated from a clash on Mulund-Airoli Road on September 13 between a concrete mixer truck and a Toyota Land Cruiser.
### Details of the Kidnapping and Confinement
Following the road rage altercation, Dilip and Salunkhe allegedly abducted truck helper Pralhad Kumar Chouhan and took him to the Khedkars’ Pune home. Chouhan was found confined to a watchman’s room, given stale food, and threatened with extortion. Police managed to rescue him despite resistance from Manorama Khedkar.
The accused have been charged under multiple sections, including kidnapping and wrongful confinement intended for extortion.
### Additional Legal Troubles for the Khedkar Family
Adding to the family’s legal woes, Puja Khedkar, daughter of Manorama and Dilip, is under scrutiny for allegedly misusing caste and disability benefits in her UPSC civil services application. The UPSC has filed a criminal complaint, and the Delhi Police have registered an FIR.
ACP Rahul Dhas confirmed that police are preparing to issue lookout notices against both Dilip and Manorama Khedkar, as the investigation continues to unfold.
