Rust Pivot or Die Update: Major Changes Live with November 6, 2025 Force Wipe
The Rust Pivot or Die update has gone live alongside the latest force wipe on November 6, 2025, bringing significant improvements to the game’s progression and gameplay experience.
In the previous patch, Blueprint Fragments were introduced, drastically changing the game’s progression loop. However, the new system felt somewhat unbalanced, especially as larger groups dominated monument control. To address these issues and improve the meta, the developers have implemented an array of interesting changes.
In this article, we’ll explore the key updates brought by the Rust Pivot or Die patch. Read on to learn more!
Research Cost Changes
One of the most impactful changes in the update concerns the research costs for items. Before Blueprint Fragments were introduced, item research costs were quite inflated. The addition of fragments initially made progression more difficult, as learning new items required more resources.
To balance gameplay, the developers have reduced item research costs across all rarities. Going forward, these will be the base costs for learning new items in Rust:
- Common: 15 Scrap (down from 20)
- Uncommon: 30 Scrap (down from 75)
- Rare: 60 Scrap (down from 125)
- Very Rare: 120 Scrap (down from 500)
By drastically lowering unlock costs and removing scrap requirements from workbench crafting, the update aims to enable smoother progression for all players.
Puzzle Updates
The previous force wipe update added several new puzzles to help players acquire Blueprint Fragments. Unfortunately, these locations became dominated by large groups who camped monuments and scooped up all fragments immediately upon cooldown.
To give smaller groups, duos, and solo players better chances, the puzzle system has been revamped. According to the official patch notes, monuments now operate as follows:
- Monument refresh timers start only after a player loots a container in the puzzle rooms, rather than refreshing every 30 minutes regardless of player activity.
- Refresh timers continue ticking down even if players remain in range.
- Ten minutes before refresh, monuments generate severe, unsurvivable radiation around loot rooms and puzzle elements (such as switches and fuse boxes).
- A smaller radius of mild radiation warns players to stay clear.
- The puzzle will only reset once the area has been clear of players for a full 5 minutes during radiation.
- Detection areas for player presence have been adjusted and shrunk at most monuments to allow general movement and looting during refresh periods without interruptions.
These changes should help level the playing field, making puzzles more accessible to smaller teams.
Syringing Horses
A notable quality of life improvement allows players to syringe horses for healing. This can now be done both while mounted and unmounted.
Once syringed, horses receive a temporary movement buff, increasing their speed by 12.6 km/h for four seconds. Additionally, they regain a small amount of stamina.
This feature is a welcome advantage for players relying on horses to traverse the Rust map — especially solos and small groups who may prefer horses over investing time and scrap into cars or minicopters.
New CCTV Cameras
The update also introduces a range of new CCTV cameras. Players can now monitor the deck of the Cargo Ship and access surveillance feeds at the Ferry Terminal monument.
For easy reference, here are the CCTV codes for these locations:
Cargo Ship
- CARGODECK
- CARGOBRIDGE
- CARGOSTERN
- CARGOHOLD1
- CARGOHOLD2
Ferry Terminal
- FERRYDOCK
- FERRYPARKING
- FERRYUTILITIES
- FERRYLOGISTICS
Conclusion
That covers everything you need to know about the Rust Pivot or Die update. The patch brings important improvements to item progression, monument puzzles, horse mechanics, and surveillance options—promising a fresher, more balanced gameplay experience.
