Mixed Signals Quest Walkthrough in ARC Raiders
The Mixed Signals quest in ARC Raiders is presented by Shani, who asks you to destroy an ARC Surveyor and retrieve a specific part from it. Unlike the Hornet, Wasp, or Fireball, ARC Surveyors are rare and can appear on any map. You’ll need to roam around to spot one. These ball-like machines move quickly, making them quite frustrating to track down. On top of that, they possess an armor plate that makes them difficult to destroy.

You can access the Mixed Signals quest from Shani after completing the Dormant Barons quest.
Where to Find an ARC Surveyor
The ideal spot to look for an ARC Surveyor is the Buried City. ARC Surveyors are hard to find on other maps, but you have a higher chance of spotting them here.
Unfortunately, there’s no specific spawn location for these machines, so you’ll need to scout around the map thoroughly. The best time to find them is during a Night Raid.
Since the ARC Surveyor activates a distinctive blue laser, it is easier to spot in the dark. We recommend seeking higher ground—such as a tall building’s roof—and keeping an eye out for the laser beam as it traverses the area.
Recommended Loadout to Complete the Mixed Signals Quest
- Weapon 1: Ferro
- Weapon 2: Anvil
- Grenades: Showstopper, Snap Blast Grenade, or Trigger Nade
A heavy ammo weapon is essential to destroy the ARC Surveyor, so craft and upgrade your weapons before starting the quest. Additionally, maxing out your mobility skills—particularly Marathon Runner and Youthful Lungs—will significantly help, as the ARC Surveyor moves very fast. These skills allow you to chase it down with less stamina consumption.
How to Destroy the ARC Surveyor
Once you reach a higher vantage point, scan the map for the blue laser that signals the presence of an ARC Surveyor. Sometimes, spotting it can take a while, so patience and thorough scouting are key.
When you see the laser, move quickly towards its location. Keep in mind that the ARC Surveyor rarely stays in one place for long; if you hesitate, it will move again, and you’ll need to track it down once more.
Approach stealthily because your presence may cause it to flee faster. When you get close, use either the Showstopper or the other suggested grenades.
- The Showstopper grenade will stun the ARC Surveyor for a few seconds—use this short window to shoot and destroy it.
- Snap Blast or Trigger Nade have a good chance of instantly destroying the ARC Surveyor. If they don’t, finish it off with your weapons.
If you don’t have any grenades, don’t worry. Stay on the rooftop and wait for the Surveyor to activate its laser. When it does, its armor plate will open up—this exposes a vulnerable spot. Take a shot at the open armor plate, then follow up with another shot to destroy it.
Note: As it is about to explode, the ARC Surveyor will discharge energy toward you, which can cause health loss. Make sure to keep some distance if possible.
Collecting the Surveyor Vault and Extraction
After destroying the ARC Surveyor, approach it to search for the Surveyor Vault. Ensure you have space available in your Safe Pocket slot to store this item; otherwise, you risk losing it upon death.
Once you find the vault, head to the nearest extraction point promptly. The explosion sound may alert other ARCs nearby, making your escape more challenging.
