At a local driving school, children practiced checking for safety before crossing pedestrian walkways while riding bicycles. One participant said, “I want to follow the rules so I don’t ignore traffic lights,” while another added, “I’ll wait until the light turns green.”
Parents also took part in the safety program by driving with goggles designed to simulate the effects of alcohol consumption. This allowed them to experience firsthand the dangers of impaired driving and understand its impact on safety.
According to Osaka police, more than 17,000 traffic accidents have occurred in the prefecture this year as of September 18th. Serious and fatal accidents caused by drunk driving are known to increase toward the year-end.
Authorities are urging pedestrians to take precautions, such as wearing reflective materials, to improve visibility and help prevent further accidents. Staying vigilant and following safety measures can save lives on the road.
