Lisa Demuth Picks Ryan Wilson As Her Lieutenant Governor Choice

ST. PAUL – Republican Lisa Demuth of Cold Spring has announced her running mate in the race for governor. Ryan Wilson is her pick to be lieutenant governor for the 2026 gubernatorial race.

Wilson previously ran for state auditor in 2022, narrowly losing to incumbent Julie Blaha in a tight race. He is an attorney and former small business owner who resides in Maple Grove.

Fluence Media Political Analyst Blois Olson commented on the timing of the announcement, saying it is early for Demuth to reveal her running mate. However, Olson notes that Demuth is likely trying to capitalize on the momentum following her campaign launch just a week ago.

He added that having a running mate allows the campaign to have a surrogate while Demuth focuses on legislative issues, which can be advantageous. On the other hand, announcing the running mate this early could reduce anticipation and excitement around the ticket.

The Demuth-Wilson ticket is set to embark on a statewide tour later this week as they begin their campaign trail.
