Shedeur Sanders finally got the chance to make his debut for the Cleveland Browns on Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens. At halftime, Kevin Stefanski’s team led the game 16-10. Starting quarterback Dillon Gabriel was sent into concussion protocol, which led to Coach Prime’s son being brought in as his replacement for the second half.
Unfortunately, Shedeur Sanders’ debut for the Browns did not go as hoped. The team ended up losing at home with a final score of 16-23. The rookie quarterback completed four of 16 passes for 47 yards with no touchdowns. He also threw one interception and was sacked twice during the game.
Instead of placing the blame on Shedeur, many fans took to social media to criticize Kevin Stefanski and the Browns organization. They claimed there appears to be an intentional effort to sabotage Coach Prime’s son’s NFL career.
One fan tweeted, “I cannot believe the Browns O-Line isn’t blocking for Shedeur Sanders. They are intentionally making him fail. Disgusting.”
Another fan expressed frustration over the timing of Sanders’ debut, saying, “Shedeur Sanders was set up to fail by the Browns organization. They should’ve made the switch before the bye week so he can have two weeks to prepare with an offense dedicated to him. He hasn’t practiced with the starters. Now they want him to win with no support in Week 10.”
Additional criticism focused on the lack of preparation given to Sanders. A fan wrote, “I don’t wanna hear anything bad about Shedeur! Stefanski made sure this man got NO reps with the first team! They knew at any time Dillon Gabriel could get hurt, and that would mean throwing Sanders in there with no rhythm or timing with the 1’s. Number 12 has been throwing to coaches and ballboys.”
Calls to fire Kevin Stefanski also surfaced. One tweet read, “#Browns Stefanski did not set SHEDEUR up for success. FIRE STEFANSKI!!!”
Some fans went further, suggesting issues of bias within the Browns organization. One user claimed, “Literally everybody in the Browns organization wants Shedeur to fail so bad, this is just pure racism.”
Another fan demanded an investigation, stating, “What in the actual [expletive] is happening right now? Someone needs to investigate the Browns front office and Kevin Stefanski. They’re going to get Shedeur killed doing dumb [expletive] like this.”
Following Sunday’s loss, the Browns now have a 2-8 record this season and are on a three-game losing streak.
