The Toronto Blue Jays fell just short of winning the World Series, and could be aggressive this offseason to get back to the Fall Classic. The Blue Jays have gone after marquee free agents in recent years, including Shohei Ohtani and Juan Soto. However, they have failed to land most of the star players they pursue. However, after a trip to the World Series and locking up Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Toronto may be a more attractive free agent destination. FanSided’s Chris Landers predicted the Blue Jays would land Kyle Tucker this winter after he rejected the Chicago Cubs’ qualifying offer. “The vibes are at an all-time high, and we know that money has never been an issue for this franchise,” wrote Landers. “If the Yankees, Dodgers and Cubs aren’t willing to get into a heated bidding war, Toronto could finally land their big fish.” According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, the Blue Jays are “considered the favorite by other executives to land Tucker” this winter. Tucker is a four-time All-Star and has hit 134 home runs since the start of 2021. He is the best free agent in this class and would instantly make the Blue Jays even better. Not to mention, if the Blue Jays lose Bo Bichette, he would easily be able to replace the production the Blue Jays lose, and then some. He had a down season, but he still managed to post a . 841 OPS and 22 home runs. Notably, 15 of those home runs came on the road, so perhaps playing at Wrigley Field had something to do with his down season. His numbers on the road were stellar. Tucker is projected to sign a 10-year, $401 million deal this winter. He would be a major investment, but the Blue Jays would be getting one of the best players in baseball. The Blue Jays would also lose draft compensation for signing Tucker since he rejected the qualifying offer from the Cubs.
