**19-Year-Old Man Arrested in Shorewood After Allegedly Attacking Mother and Attempting to Stab Officer**
SHOREWOOD, Ill. (WLS) — A 19-year-old man from the south suburbs has been arrested following an alleged assault on his mother and an attempt to stab a police officer, according to Shorewood police.
Officers responded Thursday afternoon to a 911 call reporting a domestic battery in progress in the 200-block of South Ravinia Drive.
Upon arrival, police witnessed Ryan Dube of Shorewood hitting and pushing his mother to the ground. Authorities said Dube had already slapped and punched her in the face and neck inside the home.
Dube’s mother managed to flee through the front door, but he chased her while wielding a knife.
During the encounter, one officer tackled Dube, who then swung the knife at the officer and tried to stab him. Another officer intervened and was able to stop the attack.
Both the officer and Dube’s mother were evaluated on the scene by paramedics for their injuries.
Dube has been charged with aggravated assault and domestic battery. He is currently held at Will County Jail, awaiting a pre-trial release hearing.
