**Bhopal Mobile Snatching Incident: Police Struggle to Trace Suspects After Theft from IG Intelligence**
Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh — Over 48 hours have passed since a mobile phone belonging to IG Intelligence Dr. Ashish was snatched in a high-security area, yet police remain clueless about the culprits involved. The incident occurred in the Char Imli locality under the jurisdiction of Habibganj police station and has raised serious concerns about the state of law and order in the city.
Of particular worry is that one of the stolen devices—an Android handset—is believed to contain sensitive information related to state security, Naxal operations, and other classified matters. According to reports, three men on a bike carried out the snatching. They discarded Dr. Ashish’s iPhone and fled with the Android phone.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the same gang may be involved in another recent mobile snatching incident in a different part of Bhopal.
Police Commissioner Harinarayanchari Mishra addressed the situation, stating that dedicated teams have been formed to trace the stolen device and apprehend the suspects. “The mobile will be recovered soon. Several suspects have been detained and are being questioned,” he said.
However, police sources highlighted several technical challenges that are hindering progress. Defunct or absent CCTV cameras, combined with poor lighting in key areas, have made it difficult to track the escape route of the culprits. Limited surveillance footage and unclear visuals continue to delay the investigation.
The police remain committed to cracking the case and restoring confidence in the city’s security measures. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
