**Indore Lokayukta Catches Municipal Corporation Officials Accepting Bribe for Tractor Release**
Indore, Madhya Pradesh: The Lokayukta Special Police Establishment in Indore caught two officials from the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) accepting a bribe of Rs 3,000 to release a tractor.
Manoj Chauhan filed a complaint at Lokayukta SP Rajesh Sahay’s office, stating that his tractor is used to transport debris from C21 Mall to his own construction site, earning him Rs 500 per trip. According to Chauhan, the incidents began on Wednesday when the Chief Sanitation Inspector (CSI) of Zone-22, Gopal Patona, along with the supervisor of the outsourced company Third Eye, Bharat Murdiya, stopped his tractor.
The officials claimed that garbage was mixed with the debris and demanded Rs 10,000 to release the tractor, threatening to seize it otherwise. Eventually, they agreed to release the vehicle for Rs 5,000. Bharat accepted Rs 2,000 on the spot and instructed Chauhan to bring the remaining Rs 3,000 the next day. Alongside this, they confiscated Chauhan’s mobile phone, telling him to collect it after paying the full amount.
The following day, when Chauhan handed over Rs 3,000 to Gopal, who then passed the money to Bharat, the Lokayukta team, already positioned nearby, apprehended both officials red-handed.
A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 7 and 61(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Further investigation is currently underway.
