EXCLUSIVE: Ranveer Singh-starrer Dhurandhar Part 1 expected to be 3 hours 32 minutes long; will be Bollywood’s LONGEST film since Jodhaa Akbar

Bollywood Hungama has been at the forefront in delivering breaking news about the much-awaited film, Dhurandhar. We were the first to announce that the Ranveer Singh-starrer is a two-part saga; this news created a stir in the industry. Prior to this newsbreak, we informed readers that Dhurandhar is expected to last 3 hours. Bollywood Hungama has now learned that the run time of the first part of Dhurandhar is longer than expected. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Dhurandhar Part 1’s length is said to be around 3 hours and 32 minutes. The final run time has been kept under wraps. But it’s expected to be close to 3 ½ hours long. The process of acquiring the censor certificate has begun. Once the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) passes the film in a few days from now, the exact run time will be known.”An insider told Bollywood Hungama, “Dhurandhar tells a vast story and hence the lengthy run time. Director Aditya Dhar is an expert storyteller. Look at Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019) or his productions like Article 370 (2024), Dhoom Dhaam (2025) and the recently-released Baramulla (2025). He always ensures that there’s a lot happening in his films and that the goings-on don’t feel stretched. Dhurandhar’s storytelling will be on the same lines. There would be so much happening that the audience would be gripped from start to finish.”If Dhurandhar indeed has a run time of 3 hours and 32 minutes, it’ll be Bollywood’s longest film since Jodhaa Akbar (2008). The Hrithik Roshan-Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer was 3 hours and 34 minutes long. In the last 25 years, there have been 24 Hindi films with a run time of more than 3 hours. Dhurandhar is the sixth longest Bollywood film since 2000 after LOC Kargil (2003; 4 hours and 7 minutes), Lagaan (2001; 3 hours and 44 minutes), Salaam-E-Ishq (2007; 3 hours and 36 minutes), Mohabbatein (2000; 3 hours and 35 minutes) and Jodhaa Akbar (2008; 3 hours and 34 minutes). The 3 hours plus Hindi films in the last 25 years (arranged in the order of their release): 1. Mohabbatein (2000) 3 hours and 35 minutes 2. Lagaan (2001) 3 hours and 44 minutes 3. Gadar Ek Prem Katha (2001) 3 hours and 6 minutes 4. Dil Chahta Hai (2001) 3 hours and 4 minutes 5. Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001) 3 hours and 30 minutes 6. Devdas (2002) 3 hours and 4 minutes 7. The Hero: Love Story Of A Spy (2003) 3 hours and 3 minutes 8. LOC Kargil (2003) 4 hours and 7 minutes 9. Lakshya (2004) 3 hours and 5 minutes 10. Veer-Zaara (2004) 3 hours and 12 minutes 11. Swades (2004) 3 hours and 15 minutes 12. Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyo (2004) 3 hours and 6 minutes 13. Bose: The Forgotten Hero (2005) 3 hours and 28 minutes 14. Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006) 3 hours and 12 minutes 15. Salaam-E-Ishq (2007) 3 hours and 36 minutes 16. Jodhaa Akbar (2008) 3 hours and 34 minutes 17. Ghajini (2008) 3 hours and 4 minutes 18. What’s Your Raashee? (2009) 3 hours and 20 minutes 19. Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013) 3 hours and 8 minutes 20. M S Dhoni The Untold Story (2016) 3 hours and 10 minutes 21. EXCLUSIVE: Dhurandhar makers opt for a low-key promotion strategy; Ranveer Singh to keep a low profile before release

The much-awaited trailer of Dhurandhar was launched in a grand event held at Mumbai’s iconic Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre. The event was graced not just by the film’s team and members of the media but also by nearly 2000 fans of lead actor Ranveer Singh. This has led to expectations among his admirers that Ranveer and others in the star cast, namely R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Sara Arjun, will come out again for promotions in the days to come. However, Bollywood Hungama has learned that it’s not going to happen and there’s a solid reason behind this decision. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “The makers of the film, Jio Studios and B62 Studios, have decided to opt for a low-key promotional strategy. This means that Ranveer Singh would avoid appearances on TV shows. He won’t be going for any more big-scale events or promotional city tours and interviews either.”The source continued, “Ranveer Singh agreed with this decision and he wanted the same strategy as well. He had become overexposed during Cirkus (2022) and a few of his previous films. Hence, he wants to avoid that mistake and let the work do the talking. Thankfully, the film is quite garam the teaser got viewers excited and the trailer has further enhanced the hype. After the release, they might decide to open up to the media.”An industry insider commented, “Sometimes, less is more. In recent times, we saw the no-promotional decision worked wonders for Saiyaara. Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat makers, too, remained absent from promotions and spoke about the film and went on a roadshow only after the film’s release. When you have the backing of impactful assets, this promotional tactic can work wonders.”Dhurandhar also stars Sanjay Dutt and Akshaye Khanna. It releases in cinemas on December 5. Blast from the pastIn January 2023, trade veteran Taran Adarsh, in an interview with Bollywood Hungama, decoded what was going wrong with Ranveer Singh as far as his box office pull was concerned and why his contemporary Ranbir Kapoor was a bigger draw at the box office. He told Bollywood Hungama, “Ranbir Kapoor ki strategy ko main daad dena chahoonga. He is one actor who is not overexposed. Agar aap dekhenge toh har actor aaj ki tareekh mein apne airport looks de raha hai, ya release ke baad social media pe zinda rehne ki koshish karta hai. Lekin inhonein Brahmastra (2022) ke baad koi public outing mein zyada nazar nahin aate. This is what I like about Ranbir Kapoor and which is lacking in Ranveer Singh.”He continued, “Ranveer Singh ko aap har doosre din dekh rahe hain kisi ad mein, kisi photo session mein, alag-alag events mein jaa rahe hain. And then unki film aati hai and there is no excitement left. 70s and 80s ke actors ne apne kaam ko kahaa ki woh baat karega. Aaj ki tareekh mein aap itna overexpose ho gaye hain ki you are going wrong drastically. I think you need to cut down on your public appearances. That’s a big takeaway from 2022.”Also Read: Arjun Rampal credits Aditya Dhar for his ‘Angel of Death’ avatar in Dhurandhar; says, “Thanks to him for making us look so different and unrecognizable on screen”.

SCOOP: Dhurandhar makers eye May 29, 2026 for the release of the second part

On Monday, November 17, Bollywood Hungama was the first one to break the viral news that Dhurandhar is a two-part saga. As expected, the news travelled far and wide. 2 days later and a day after the grand trailer launch, Bollywood Hungama brings to you one more update about this film. A source told us, “Dhurandhar’s first part will arrive in cinemas on December 5, as is common knowledge. The makers want to release the second part in the first half of 2026, particularly in the summers. Accordingly, they have set their eyes on the May 29 slot. It is empty and hasn’t been grabbed yet. This will give them an advantage of a solo release, just like the first part, which is arriving sans any competition.”The source continued, “However, the makers have not yet locked the May 29 date. They are looking at other vacant dates as well in May and also are considering if Dhurandhar Part 2 can arrive in cinemas in June. They plan to take a call on it soon.”Meanwhile, there was no mention of Dhurandhar being a two-part saga at the grand trailer launch, held yesterday, on November 18, at Mumbai’s iconic Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre. An industry insider commented, “The makers probably plan to lock the date before the release of the first part. Dhurandhar Part 1 is expected to end with the announcement of the second installment along with its release date.”On Monday, Bollywood Hungama carried a quote by a source that said, “Dhurandhar’s first part will end at a decisive point and the story will then continue in the second part. Director Aditya Dhar has shot extensively and the film has shaped up really well. But since it’s very lengthy, he and the makers, Jio Studios and B62 Studios, have toyed with the idea of breaking it into 2 parts. If this is the plan, then Dhurandhar’s part 2 will arrive next year, preferably in the first half.”Dhurandhar stars Ranveer Singh in the lead and also features Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan and Sara Arjun.
